It is also intended for individuals already involved in the deployment and management of Oracle 11g databases and who wish to expand their expertise and obtain Oracle Database certification.

Required prerequisite:Familiarity with data processing concepts and techniques
This course will train you to understand the basic concepts of relational databases, ensuring refined code by developers. Learn to write subqueries, combine multiple queries into a single query using SET operators, and report aggregated data using group functions. Controlling privileges at the object and system level are also covered in detail. Additional topics include creating indexes and constraints, altering existing schema objects, and creating and querying external tables. Understand the advanced features of SQL in order to query and manipulate data within the database, to use dictionary views to retrieve metadata, and create reports about schema objects. Date-time functions available in the Oracle Database are also covered, as well as how to use the regular expression support in SQL.
This course uses Oracle SQL Developer as the main development tool. SQL*Plus is available as an optional development tool.
This is appropriate for a 10g and 11g audience. There are minor changes between 10g and 11g features in SQL.

- Run data manipulation statements (DML).
- Control database access to specific objects.
- Manage schema objects.
- Manage objects with data dictionary views.
- Retrieve row and column data from tables.
Required Prerequisite:Oracle Database: Introduction to SQL
This course is designed to give you a firm foundation in basic database administration and to prepare you for the corresponding Oracle Certified Associate exam. Learn how to install, configure, and maintain an Oracle database. Gain a conceptual understanding of the Oracle database architecture and how its components work and interact with one another. Learn how to create an operational database and properly manage the various structures in an effective and efficient manner, including performance monitoring, database security, user management, and backup/recovery techniques. Lesson topics are reinforced with structured hands-on practices.
Learn To:
- Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure
- Create and manage users
- Install and Configure Oracle Database
- Create and manage storage structures
- Administer the Oracle Database
- Understand the Oracle Database architecture and how its components work and interact with one another
- Perform backup and recovery
This course fulfills the training requirement for an Oracle Certification Path
Required Prerequisite:Oracle Database 11g: Administration I
This course takes the database administrator beyond the basic tasks covered in the Administrator I course. Gain a deep understanding of the most important job of a DBA—performing backup and recovery. The concepts and architecture that support backup and recovery, along with the detailed steps of how to execute these critical tasks in various ways and situations, are covered in detail. Learn how to define and test your own backup and recovery scenarios. Learn how to manage memory effectively and how to perform performance evaluation and tuning tasks. Additional topics include a review of all types of Flashback technologies, scheduling jobs inside and outside of the database, and controlling system resource usage.
Learn To:
- Automate DBA tasks with the Scheduler
- Diagnose and repair data failures with Flashback technology
- Manage space to optimize database storage and to be able to respond to growing space requirements
- Monitor and manage major database components, including as memory, performance, and resources
- Secure the availability of your database by appropriate backup and recovery strategies
This course counts towards the Hands-on course requirement for the Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certification.
